  • Location Time Zones - Incorrect time zones on location

    Hi,

I am working with OTM 5.5 CU02. We are not integrating time zones with in our location integration. According to OTM, when creating a location, if you leave the time zone blank, OTM will auto-populate the time zone based on the location's address (country, state/province, city, postal code).

We are seeing many time zones that are not correct. For example, many of the location in Michigan are being set to America/Chicago. OTM is assigning locations in Ann Arbor with a Central time zone, when they should be Eastern.

Question: Does anyone know of a fix for correcting time zones short of bringing them over through a location integration, or buying time zone data from a third party?

    Thanks,
    Drew

    Hi Drew,

Have you submitted a Service Request to Oracle through Metalink for this issue? OTM pulls the Time Zone information from the table TIME_ZONE_LOCALE so according to what you described, it sounds like that table does not have the correct assignments...

    Hope this helps,

    Alejandro B.

      Drew,

Whats up buddy long time no talk to.

I have been working on this but have had no luck on reproducing it. Even though I am using the exact same data.

However Oracle did provide a patch for this and has been installed in development.

let me know how I can reproduce this in QA

Re: Location Time Zones - Incorrect time zones on location

We are having the same issue with time zones being incorrect on locations. I submitted a ticket to Oracle support but the response was that it is a bug that was corrected in v5.5. We are currently using v5.0. Does anyone know of a way to work around this in 5.0?

take a back up of time_zone_locale table and then try to modify country_code3_gid column value according to the time zone.

          Hope it will help.

Re: Location Time Zones - Incorrect time zones on location

Anyone on 6.2 having issues with incorrect time zones on locations? We are seeing some issues with certain locations. A check of the data in the Time_zone_locale table seems to indicate the data is correct. However, the time zone being chosen is not. For instance, we have a location in Brownsville, TX that is getting assigned as Americas/Denver when it should be Americas/Chicago. A check of the table lists the state of TX as Americas/Chicago...and then also has a list of specific TX cities with a time zone of Americas/Denver. Brownsville is not in this list though. I also checked the zip code for the location and it is not covered by any of the zip ranges specified in the table. So the only "hit" I see is the all TX record....which should be picking the Americas/Chicago for the Brownsville location. But it picks the Denver time zone instead. Any help or feedback is appreciated.

              Time Zone Locale

This page is accessed via Shipment Management > Power Data > Geography > Time Zone Locale. You must be logged in as a DBA to access this page.
This page displays the Time Zone locale and enables you to add and modify your own time zone locales so you can specify a time zone for a specific location. You may need to change the time zone to correct a regional time zone discrepancy.
There is a hierarchy built into the logic in case of overlap the most specific location is used, i.e., city rather than country code with postal code low being the most specific.

I am sure you must have checked the time_zone_locale table.. just to make sure..

try searching for Postal_code, city, State
if No match, move up to next hierarchy
                city, state
state --- try searching all these in DB directly

I just created a location and OTM assigned central time for Brownsville.. (checked in 6.2.4)
