How to send SMS from OTM to mobiles?

Moshe,

OTM doesn't have direct SMS capabilities, so you'd have to utilize an email to SMS gateway, or simply email directly to the SMS device. For instance, you can send an SMS to most cell phones using an email address like [email protected].

Thnx for your reply.
In that case I already have an Email address filled in the Contact screen.I want to notify an email as well as an SMS.So where do I store the SMS address ex:" [email protected]." in the contact screen.

I ve to store the below details in Contact Screen:
Email:[email protected]
SMS:[email protected].

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of how to store both in that fashion. I believe you can setup multiple email addresses per contact. If so, then that's the way to accomplish this.

Also, FYI - I moved your thread out of the Database Administration section and into the Execution section, where I believe it better fits.

This approach of using contact groups may solve the same issue that you are facing.

Hi, I'd just like to revive this thread to ask about the new SMS capabilities in OTM from 5.5 onwards. Has anyone implemented SMS with success? Was an SMS gateway used, and if so, what's involved?

Most of the integration I've seen is SMS outbound. For this, it's pretty easy to just create a custom XSL for outbound emails that limits the message length and then email out to the phones (typically something like [email protected])

SMS inbound is more difficult and would require a gateway or integration. Also, you may look at the mobile screens provided with OTM, as hitting them via a mobile browser may be what you're looking for.

Sorry, I wasn't specific enough in my reply. We are indeed looking at outbound SMS, but without using the '@verizonwireless' email-style contacts. The OTM help says that the SMS Contact Method "works similar to Fax in that the system sends email messages to a gateway sever and the gateway sever is responsible for converting and delivering the message. There are some SMS properties that need to be set to use SMS." The problem is, there doesn't seem to be any information on this gateway server and how it's set up. The guide gives plenty of info on RightFAX or FAXMakerPro, but no love for SMS.

Is there any info that I'm missing about this?
