Barcode Capturing?

Dear Pals,

Is there a provision / mechanism of capturing the bar code in OTM? We have a requirement of capturing barcode on one of the reports we made and attached to OTM. Could any one suggest me something?

What I would like to know, does OTM generates Barcode / do we need to write any interface program which will generate the barcode?

Lakshman,

No - OTM does not inherently create barcodes, though you can configure Oracle Reports to produce them. This will take custom reports development in order to achieve.

We do remote printing in w/h's for OTM shipments. The set-up is as follows:
OTM sends the shipment XML to a "proprietary label formating s/w". This XML contains the printer ID to which the label is to be printed. The proprietary s/w formats the XML to the printer requried format and sends across the same to the thermal printer (can be printed on pdf also). We print weight and bill of lading as a barcode in addtional to other details.

Does in any way BI Publisher produce Barcodes for reprots. Please let me know if any body has worked on this front. Any help is deeply appreciated.

In 5.5 we've used ID Automation's (Barcode Fonts, Components, Label Software, RFID & Scanners by IDAutomation) barcode font and PL/SQL library for Oracle Reports with good results. You may want to check on their site for support of BI Publisher.

I do dot think ID is good. I had problems through using. Now I change a website. I am now using a C# barcode generator in ASP.NET to create barcode. Share my experience with you all guys.

Did you get the solution?? I am trying to generate barcode in report in OTM 6.3.
If you have already got the solution can you please help me out. Can you advise the path of OTM server where I need to keep the font file.

You are replying in such an old thread. I believe the man may not think of this question he met before. I suggest you make full use of Google. Last time, I wanted to create barcode in C# in ASP.NET and I knew nothing about barcode. I used Google and found that good tool. In the barcode creation, I also encountered many problems. At that time, I posted quesitions at that site. Some barcode professionals would kindly help me. You may take a look at that site. It has many useful passages which may give you some clues, like barcode data encoding guide, etc. Good luck.

For what I know, OTM doesn't support barcode generating yet(not so sure). But with a barcode control or font (free ones can be found on Google), you will be able to create barcode images of your own. Not so difficult.

A barcode scanner may be used to detect and capture the barcode. There are some free ones and you can search one online.
