  • [SOLVED] Fleet Management for more than one SP

    Hello All,

Can fleet management be used when the equipments are from different carriers? How to validate the equipment to the actual carrier from the rate?

    Thanks,

    Daniel

    Hi Daniel,

If you don't want to track asset inventory of second carrier using Fleet mgt by sub domains ( If both carriers have huge inventory , their own drivers ) then try with workaround for Equipment group id ... Naming Conventions ...

Planner uses fleets to assign it to shipments and driver........Ideally a single carrier will maintain his inventory and use for operations.... fleet mgft is not built for a 3PL to design inventory of multiple carriers and track it down....to equipment / actual carrier level...

You use equipment group id's in rate basis as qualifying criteria and give different costing for different carrier equipments ..... if you are looking only for costing in rate records...

Hi Ashok - I was thinking about this workaround to have different equipment groups per carrier and one type for each of them. Because we also need to track the equipment which the carrier is using, due to monitoring requirements.

      Thanks

Is there any way I could do this restriction by the assignment to rules, to prevent assigning a equipment that does not belong to the carrier?

        Thanks

          Hi Daniel,

          yes workaround is :-
          • Create a Equipment Type ( Xid same as Equipment group ) specific to a carrier
          • Map it to equipment group specific to a carrier
          • Use this equipment group as basis in rate record to define rates
          • Write an saved condition who looks if planned equipment group = rate record basis equipment group ( This will insure that a raterecord for a carrier will has same equipment group as planned shipment )
          • Use this saved condition in Agent with action unassign order.....
Note that OTM does not have tracebility the # of equipment a carriers have ....

Above option will insure that shipment has same equipment as in.. contracts with carrier...
