  • Continuous Move

    Hi,

I am trying to create a Continuous Move scenario. Following are the details:

    Scenario:
    1. Item 1 to be moved from point A to point B by carrier CAR1
    2. Item 2 to be moved from point B to point C by carrier CAR1
    Setups done:
    1. Created a Rate Offering that has CM Rules populated for all the relevant lanes
    2. Created Rate Records for all the lanes (A to B, and B to C) having different Rate Costs for Continuous Move Tour and otherwise
    3. Itineraries from A to B and b to C
I ran Bulk Plan for two orders and got two different shipments: one from A to B and another from B to C by CAR1. When I tried to take Manage Continuous Move action, I get the error with both the Find Shipments and Link Shipments. Error is "Continuous move rating not allowed".

I tried to build continuous move with bulk plan itself by selecting a planning parameter that has CM parameters set. But this also results in two shipments and Continuous Move does not link shipments together.

Please help me out in achieving this scenario. Any help is appreciated.

    Regards,

    Re: Continuous Move

    Hi All,

Facing a similar problem when trying out a scenario,
    1. OR1 to be moved from point A to point B by carrier CAR1.
    2. OR2 to be moved from point C to point A by carrier CAR1.

Have defined lanes between locations A-B, B-C, C-A. Rates are also defined for the locations participating in shipments. Had defined the itineraries for A-B and C-A seperately.

Bulk Planned orders OR1 and OR2 and ended up with two shipments one from A to B and another from C to A. Getting the error "No CM opportunities found for this shipment" when i try to Manage Continous Move.

Any help would be highly appreciated....

        Re: Continuous Move

Please check whether relevant planning parameters pertaining to CM are turned on ( 4 parameters are there)

In rate offering, CM rule data tab> make sure lane (deadhead) is entered correctly and similarly rates are configured for deadhead lanes.

Also make sure early start time in both Order release(OR) should be in sync with each other

        example:
        OR1 A ->B : 2 hrs transit time
B ->C : 3 hrs transit time - this is deadhead lane as no order is carried by carrier
        OR2 C ->A : 1 hrs transit time

        If pickup time for OR1 = 5am
        Then pickup time for OR2 should after 10am only (5am+2+3 = 10am)

Then plan these OR and try to link shipments.

          Thanks for the reply....

I had already tweaked the plannning parameters and defined the lanes in CM rule tab.I have also configured rates for A-->B and C-->A.
My question is do we need to have rates for the dead head lanes (B-->C) too?

            Re: Continuous Move

yes, we need to have rates for the dead head lanes (B-->C) too.

Also make sure in rate basis give criteria as "shipment participation in Cm = false" AND "shipment total number of orders = 0", then give any rate basis like "100$ per shipments"

This will make system understand to use this rate record for only deadhead route in CM

              Re: Continuous Move

              Hello,

I have followed all the suggested steps and could plan continuous move using Operation Planning -> Plan Continuous Move -> Link/Find Shipments.

But Bulk Plan is not working,

              Plz help,

              best regards,

                Re: Continuous Move

You need to define parameter "CM MAX SEARCH DURATION" under "CONTINUOUS MOVES" section / "Max Connection Time" and "Max Time After Delivery" field on "CM Rule Data" on rate offering very carefully.

As per my experience, these troubled most in continuous move.

For example, you have two shipment. First shipment start @ 10 and end @ 12. Second shipment start @ 14 and end @ 18. In this case your deadhead distance should be cover in 2 hrs. Also second shipment start after 2 hrs as first shipment end. So all above parameter should be greater then 2 hrs.

                  Re: Continuous Move

                  Hello Prashant,

Thanks for your inputs, they were really helpful.

Added to what you have mentioned, I performed one more step. I added a point to point lane for empty lanes in Rate Services and in Rate Offerings (CM Rule Data). For example, if B to C was the empty lane, I added B to B and C to C lanes in Rate Services and Rate Offering. After this bulk planning worked.

This is just to update this post,

                  Regards,

                    Re: Continuous Move

                    Hi All

I am planning a Continuous Move and the Caselet Goes as :-

                    Order1- A-B
                    Order2- C-A

I am able to manually link the the shipments but while I am running the bulk plan , I am not getting the shipments planned as per the requirement.

I have tweaked the planning parameters and the order pick up time is well within the window provided.

Kindly share your thoughts on the same.

                    Appreciate your help.

                    cheers

                      Hello Ayush,

As mentioned in my last post, have you defined lanes between B to B and C to C in Rate Offering and Rate Services?

                      Regards,

                            Hey Friend

I tried refrring the doc but still the same error. In diagnostics the error shown is could not retrieve CM_RULE. But its is picking the configured Rate Offering which has the CM rule data defined.

So not able to mae out where exactly the config is wrong.

                            BR,

                              CM AUTO CREATE = TRUE
                              CM REDRIVE = TRUE
COMPUTE SHIPMENT TIME WINDOW = TRUE
