  • Planning Order Releases with 0 Weight

    Hi :

We create Manual Order Releases in OTM. In some cases, users miss weight information for the Order Release.

But OTM is planning and creating Shipments for these Order Releases. It allows to create Invoice and Voucher as well - but is failing in the Voucher Allocation process because of missing weight information.
It is extremely difficult to go back and correct the changes at this point.

Is there a way in OTM where we can stop OTM from Planning Order Releases with 0 weights ?

    Thanks for your help.

    We use OTM5.5 CU2 RU05.

    Thanks
    Jay

Re: Planning Order Releases with 0 Weight

Maybe you could populate all of your itineraries with a Minimum Weight of 1 LB. This way, planning should fail for all Orders with a 0 Weight.

      Hi :

That's a good point. But I guess the Itinerary set-up dont control Manual Planning. Correct me if I am wrong.

      Thanks

Re: Planning Order Releases with 0 Weight

The danger when using the Manually Create Shipment Action is that this process ignores the standard shipment planning logic. So yes, no itinerary evaluation occurs when building Manual Shipments.

Hi, if you want to prevent users from manually creating order releases with a zero weight, you should take a look at the Action Check functionality. I think that will allow you to create an action check with a customisable message where the user attempts to save an order release which has zero weight.

Rather than trying to find a way to stop OTM planning those order releases, you could trap the problem with the users. Let me know how you get on with that.
