  • LTL consolidation by post code

Does anyone know if it's possible to consolidate orders into an LTL shipment using the first 3 digits of post codes within U.S.? Thanks!

What kind of consolidation do you expect? Please describe your scenario

Re: LTL consolidation by post code

We would like to be able to consolidate multiple order releases with the same destination post code into larger LTL shipments. Based on the analysis we've done we could increase freight savings if we consolidate by post code over ship to address. Thanks!

You may define Lanes using Geography Hierarchy: USZIP3

Joseph, thanks but I don't think the proposed solution will work for us, as I understand the lane definition controls the rating depending on the geo hierarchy. We already have the lanes defined at the state-to-state level, we'd like to explore the feasibility of consolidation the orders using the destination zip over destination address. (e.g. 10 orders going to the same zip vs 2 orders going to the same customer address)

            OTM handles different geohierarchy ranking.

You can have rates that are state to state and address to state. In the Power Data setup, OTM has a rank assigned to each geohierarchy. So a state to state might be a 8 and a state to address is a 5. Unless you tweak the OTM planning parameters to use cost over ranking, OTM will always choose a lower ranked rate record even if the cost is higher.
