  • Rates Based on Item NMFC Classes

    Hi,

I need to calculate the shipment cost based on count of items of specific NMFC Class, Items of all other NMFC Classes go free as long as minimum cost is covered. Rate per Count of item vary which I have modeled through Rate Unit Break Profiles.

My Order has 30 item count. 25 of these belong to NMFC Class of 70.0 and 5 belong to NMFC Class of 60.0. NMFC Classes are populated on Items. Carrier charges $30 flat till 5 items. From 6 to 9, flat cost of $40 is charged. From 10 to 20, flat cost of $60 is charged. From 21 onwards, $60 + $3 per item is charged. So for 25 item count, OTM should calculate the cost of $75 (60 + (3*5)).

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Don't think your scenario is NMFC particularly.

You should be able to model this by using "Calculate As Marginal Cost" flag. Please refer to my another post: http://www.otmfaq.com/forums/f16/cre...2591/#post8127

Re: Rates Based on Item NMFC Classes

I think I could not explain the scenario well enough. I am able to handle the rate unit break profiles correctly. My problem is: how to get OTM to calculate correct number of chargable items in an order? this has to be determined based on NMFC class. And once the correct count is calculated, then apply corresponding rate from rate unit break profile.

In above example, how OTM would determine that tiered rate should be selected of 25 units and not 30 units.

Sorry, didn't read your question thoroughly.

Can I say that only maximum units of NMFC is charged?
If yes, I just have a thought without tested. Maybe you can try to set Charge Multiplier Option=Largest individual break comparator

            No problem.

It is maximum units of NMFC in the example. But there can be a situation where out of 30 only 7 items have NMFC of 70.0. In that case, rate would be applied for only 7. Will the Charge Multiplier Option of Largest individual break comparator work in this case also?

            Regards,

Re: Rates Based on Item NMFC Classes

If the rule is not charging maximum units of NMFC, not sure Largest individual break comparator can help.
But if you would like to know the detail of Charge Multiplier Option, please refer to on-line help topic Rate Cost Details - Charge Multiplier Option
