  • [SOLVED] Sell shipment costing + 6% of buy

    Hi,

I see some questions regarding the building of a sell shipment where the Buy-shipment is the base cost and a fee is added as a percentage. For example I have on the buy side a cost of $ 1000. I need to charge my customer $1000 + 6%. I can set up a rate record using the allocated order cost. SO far no problem.

If you have a buy shipment with several charges, e.g. $1000 base and $50 fuel surcharge, the sell will be $1050 + 6% in one line.
Now there is my problem. THe Sell cost lines must be the same as in buy. So in this case I should have on my sell shipment 2 lines: base $1000 + 6% and fuel $50 + 6%.

I tried a lot but I can't get it done to store the 2 costing lines in my sell shipment.

    Ideas are very welcome.....

Re: Sell shipment costing + 6% of buy

Bob - a very simple approach to this is just to load sell side rates that have a value of the buy side cost but with the margin added.

So, if your buy side rate from A-B is $1000 with a $50 fuel surcharge, you would create a sell side rate from A-B for $1060 with a fuel surcharge accessorial of $3.

At the appropriate time in your buy side process, the sell side shipment would get created with the sell side rate.

This avoids the complication of using the order release allocated cost as the basis of generating the sell side rates.

If you allocate the buy side and sell side costs back to your order releases, you can see both the buy side and the sell side allocated cost there at the line level in order to see the "margin" you are making on each order.

Hope this is feasible in your design.

      Hi BMJ_23,

Thanks for your response. I also thought that way, but I think you get an issue when consolidating orders on a buy shipment and build for every order a sell side shipment.

I know I didn't made that statement earlier.

Bob - in that case, set up the main cost on the sell side rate record to be based on the buy side allocated cost of the order but limit that (using a rate condition) to where the cost type = B (base).

Then, on the same sell side rate record, set up a new accessorial cost that is based on the buy side allocated accessorial cost e.g. the Fuel Surcharge accessorial. You can limit that (again, using a rate condition) to be where the cost type = A (accessorial) and to a specific accessorial code if necessary.

If you set it up this way, then I think on your sell side shipment you should get two cost lines - one based on the buy side allocated base cost and one based on the buy side allocated accessorial cost.

Re-post if you are still having issues.
