  • Recording and Invoicing Non Transportation Costs

    Hi All

    Can anyone pls tell how to record and Invoice Non Transportation related costs in OTM. Like Monthly Telephone Charges, Storage Costs etc. These costs are independent of shipment transactions.

    Take a look at NFRCs (non-freight related charges).

      Thanks for your reply and time. I have had a look, but i am clueless about generating an Invoice, have u tried invoicing Non Transportation Costs on a Periodic basis

        Hi,

        It all depends what you want to do with this NFRC.
        OTM is fine in doing invoicing and billing as long as it has to do something with a shipment. You can get an invoice in with all kinds of charges, but you have to match it to a shipment before you can approve it etc.
        Of course it should be possible somewhere to create a shipment once the invoice is coming in.

        Be aware, most of the time managers want to see it allocated through all the shipments/orders done in a certain period etc. That won't be possible. OTM is not a finacial system in my opinion. Please consider to record those invoices in the accounting system to where the voucher are send.

            I'm talking about version 5.0, but I also checked this in Version 5.5 and it will work the same as far as I could see.

              Thanks for your reply and time. Can u pls throw some light on the point " Of course it should be possible somewhere to create a shipment once the invoice is coming in" which you have mentioned in your reply.

              We are trying to store warehouse costs like Man hours, storage cost which would be charged to a customer on a monthly basis, since we have to map any cost to a shipment in OTM, so can v create a Non Transport Shipment (which i saw when reading about NFRC) and raise an invoice for this shipment on a Monthly or for a specific period.

                Hi,

                What I meant was to create a shipment by an agent using the actions you have. E.G: Direct Sql. THis is when you don't have the shipment before the invoice.

                If you can already build a shipment based on a fixed schedule, then create a shipment (of type "Handling" for example) and book the man hours to that.

                At that moment you can accept and match invoices to that shipment.
