  • Shipment start time changes up on pickedup event entered on a shipment

    Hello All,

Shipment event tracker agent is activated.
Also activated RECALCULATE SHIPMENT STOP TIMES action in order to update the actual arrival and departure times on the shipment stops when the picked up and delivered events are entered.

so when picked up event is entered, Shipment start time and end time are changing and updating based on the picked up date entered.

Has anybody seen this kind of issue.

    Thanks

Re: Shipment start time changes up on pickedup event entered on a shipment

I think this is how I have always seen it working.

Start time is based on the the Shipment Stop 1 Estimated Arrival Time and if Actual Arrival is populated then it is equal to Actual Arrival time.

Similarly, if your shipment has been redriven i.e. shipment stop estimated times have been recalculated using the redrive then Last stop's estimated Departure date is changed, which is equal to Shipment's End Time. If you enter Departed event on last stop then Actual Departure date on the last stop is populated and End Time of shipment will become equal to the Actual Departure date.

    So logic is this:

    1. Shipment Start Time = Actual Arrival at first stop (if poulated) otherwise Estimated Arrival at first stop
    2. Shipment End Time = Actual Departure at Last stop (if populated) otherwise Estimated Departure at last stop

I think if you will check the checkbox on first stop as Fixed Arrival and on last stop as Fixed departure, then this will stop changing your times, but this will also stop redrive calculations!

I have same understanding as Anurag and experiencing same in our 6.3.1 instance. However, we do not redrive so the changes are not that frequent.

        Thanks for the update.

So, when i uncheck the Fixed arrival in the shipment stop and add a pick up event, agent is failing and getting a Java null pointer exception error.

Do you still redrive shipment based on event?

Yes, expectation is when the pick up event entered, changing stop times should stop and actual arrival time should be updated in the shipment stop 1.

so this is happening now when the Fixed arrival and departure check box is checked. Wanted to try if unchecked, changing start times will stop. but its giving an null pointer exception

For action RECALCULATE SHIPMENT STOP TIMES

The redrive is actually governed by Planning Parameter and Logic Configuration for STOP REDRIVE. I am not sure if checkbox for Fixed Arrival and Departure has any role to play but the default behavior is somewhat like this:

                1. When an event is received, depending on how the event group is configured for this particular status code
                2. OTM pick up the specific Stop Redrive Logic Configuration from the planning parameter and applies the following
                3. Update the Field in Question
                4. Perform redrive of downstream stop based on the configuration
                5. Stop redrive if any downstream stop has Actual date populated.

For pickup event the date on stop is usually Actual Departure, this doesn't update the Start Time of the shipment as only Actual Arrival/Estimated Arrival on first stop changes the shipment start time.

If you could tell exactly what is your expectation with the Event then we might be able to describe the behavior. i.e. when a pickup event is received what do you want OTM to do with the action RECALCULATE SHIPMENT STOP TIMES.

                  Hi Anurag

Just following up on this. If you can help with this, would really be helpful

I am using RECALCULATE SHIPMENT STOP TIMES to redrive downstream shipments. In my case, one order has four shipments. When we receive the actuals of the first shipment, the estimtated time for all the shipments downstream should change as well. Will using the RECALCULATE SHIPMENT STOP TIMES really help with this? I can only see that particular shipment's Estimated time being changed but not the downstream ones. Could you please throw some light on this?

                  Thanks
