  • Exposing OTM for external access

    Hi

There are suggestions to create data hub using OTM database to share shipment plan with service providers.
I would like to know what are the risks with OTM being exposed to outside world to allow access to shipment plan (to 3PLs).

    Thanks and Regards

    Agathian,

It depends on what you mean by exposing OTM. If you mean exposing the web servers, so that 3PLs can post XML to OTM -- or exposing the App server so that they can access the Web Service interface, then you should be fine as these both require authentication (username and password) to be present in the integration files. You can also choose to allow automatic authentication based on source IP address. If you expose the web interface, you should also be fine, as the SERVPROV domain is very secure.

If you mean exposing the OTM database directly, then I would discourage the practice since it could easily lead to data corruption.

Thanks. My question was on SERVPROV.
