  • is there any alternate method to start/stop otm services?

Hi I am new to otm world admin. Is it must to have dba sudo or root privs to start/stop services. I have web and application servers file (script) locating under /etc/init.d/otmweb60/otmapp60.

Science scripts are owned by otm user, I tryied to start with that user I get the below error. Wonder if any one using other methods.

otmweb60: line 12: ulimit: open files: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted
    Starting Tomcat Web Container...
    Starting Apache
(13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to address xxx.xx.xxx.xxx.
no listening sockets available, shutting down
    Unable to open logs

    Thank you Sreedhar

The limitation (services must be started by root) does not come from OTM.
In UNIX, for security reason, any services that use port number < 1024 (e.g. http: 80), must be started by root.
To avoid hassle, some customers use sudo (Sudo Main Page) command to allow otm user to start/stop OTM.

        Hello,

If you are a sudo user then please login to the server then, to login to server as root user, kindly execute below command,

        sudo su - root

        Provide your password

Scripts are created automatically under /etc/init.d directory

        e.g. /etc/init.d/otmap62
Here otmap62 is OTM application service name

So, to restart OTM application server you just need to execute below command using root user

        /etc/init.d/otmap62 restart

        Thank you!
