CU2 to CU5

Hi :

We are planning to upgrade OTM CU2 directly to CU5.
What will be the effort in terms of # of hours for testing ?

Please give me more insight into this process.

That is a question no one can answer for you. Every company uses OTM differently. You need to come up with a plan to test out your business flow to ensure everything is working properly. And you should not just test this once, but many times. The time can vary depending on if you come across a bug that are showstoppers.

In terms of how much time the actual upgrade will take, it also depends on your hardware. Expect it to take between 1-3 hrs for the database upgrade plus the time it takes to install CU5 on each of your servers.

I agree. The business flow is a definite factor in deciding the testing effort.

Here are my questions from a technical and installation perspective.

1) Can we jump from CU2 to CU5 directly or Should we need to do a progressive upgrade - Like CU2-CU3, CU3-CU4 and then CU4-CU5 instead of CU2-CU5 ?

2) Is CU5 available as a patch ?

3) How much time does it take to install the CU5 version ?

You can jump from CU2 to CU5 as all patches are cumulative.

2) Is CU5 available as a patch ? Yes it is available via metalink

3) How much time does it take to install the CU5 version ? Depends on how many servers you have to deploy it to. Usually about 10-15 minutes per server and then the database varies between 1-3 hr + depending on how much data is in your DB. The more jumps between CU patches, the longer it will take as more of the database structure is changing.
