How to call a web-based tool from OTM?

Could any one expaline me, how to call a web based tool from OTM?

For Ex: I want to call "https://wwwcie.ups.com/ups.app/xml/Rate" from OTM, how to do this?

When I kept in External System "HTTP/HTTPS" column and calling it, it was giving me an error “java.net.UnknownHostException”.

Lakshman,

Two things:

First, the error indicates that OTM wasn't able to contact the hostname identified in the external system - so I'd guess that it is configured incorrectly. If you could post your external system configuration, we could help determine what is wrong.

Second, having OTM contact a web service like this directly is not likely to work, since OTM will not understand the format of the remote system. You'll likely need to send a request to an integration engine (or middleware), so that it can be translated and then sent over. The results will get sent back to the middleware, translated to G-Log XML and then posted back to OTM.

Seems like some proxy issues. It was not working on one instance and working fine on other.

Ya, I am aware that we have to use BPEL to send the request with appropriate inputs and get the response back and transform the output in to OTM understandable XML and update the shipment in OTM. Pls correct me if I am wrong.

Yah Chris... Seems it is working fine on the instance where there is no restrictions on Proxy. Seems that was the issue. Thank You.
