  • Containeroptimization out of EBS Order Management

I have to following question about integration of E-Business Suite Order Management and OTM:

Is it possible, to start a container optimization in OTM during the time of order entry out of Order Management?

Can I get information about the utilization of a packed container at the time of order entry only for planning?

    Thanks and regards

Re: Containeroptimization out of EBS Order Management

Are you speaking about determining the size of deliveries prior to sending them to OTM?

I have seen an issue before with the delivery splitting being limited to weight only. Ideally, since you can't have multiple first-leg shipments or multiple equipments per shipment with the standard OM to OTM integration, you split the deliveries into just the right size for the equipment.

If this is your issue, unfortunately, the answer is no. Weight is currently the only way to split deliveries, without doing custom work.

If this isn't the issue you are referring to, please send more explanation. Thanks.

      Dear amatorre,

thanke you for your answere and explanation.

Our issue is, to decide during order entry in OM, wheter the order size will fill one complete container. If not, order quantity should be extended or reduced.

But the decision should bei done not only by considering the weight, but by considering the volume too.

I understand, that this is not possible, with the standard OM OTM integration.

      Thanks and regards.

Re: Containeroptimization out of EBS Order Management

We did do a customization on EBS to reduce the size of deliveries based on weight & volume on our OTM integration project. It only reduces the weight/volume of detail delivery lines (i.e. assigns them to new deliveries using the API) - it does not "extend" the delivery lines, you would use your grouping rules in EBS to do that.
