  • Developing a new BPEL Process for EBS OTM Integration

    Hi,
With the Oracle Provided integration with OTM has many limitations. We can't transfer any inter org transfers, Outside processing shop orders. We are planning to develop a new BPEL Process for this purpose.

Does anyone worked on these? If anyone can give me some technical inputs it would help us to achieve this.

    Thanks,
    Venkat.

Re: Developing a new BPEL Process for EBS OTM Integration

There are a few of us here (myself included) who've worked quite a bit with these pre-packaged integrations. You're not alone in finding them limited.

Honestly, I believe that custom integration is still a more viable route. The current integrations support a limited set of business processes and are essentially point-to-point communication, without leveraging a canonical model.

So far, our customers have required customizations to the base flows in order to meet their needs and often need additional flows created.

BTW - eventually these flows will be replaced with AIA versions, but I'm not sure of the timeline.

      Hi Chris,
Thank you for your inputs. Can you please give me some technical inputs as how do we need to approach this design of developing a new BPEL process. It would of great help to me.

      Thanks,
      Venkat.

What part of the process are you looking for advice on? On general BPEL development? On the G-Log integration interface?

For the latter, please check out the integration guide and G-Log.xsd that is included with your OTM installation first -- they'll give you the basic information you'll need.

You'll find the full range of integration methodologies being used with OTM -- from simple point-to-point integration using the included Python scripts, to full-fledged ESB publish/subscription models for larger projects.

Personally, I prefer to keep the integration simple, yet try to leverage a standard canonical model - so that maintaining the flows is easier - especially when dealing with end-point application upgrades.

Re: Developing a new BPEL Process for EBS OTM Integration

          Hi Chris,
Basically we want this for transferring Outside Processing purchase orders in EBS. The current purchase order integration can't help it since the line item in the purchase order is a service item. We want to do a small customization to bring the assembly item from discrete job / work order to one of the line level DFF.

We want to keep all other data intact with the existing process but only item, UOM details will be changed.

We are still not sure about the way to go forward. We need to know what are the activities we need to do to implement this.

          Thanks,
          Venkat.

            Venkat,

Could you please provide some details as how to integrate OTM with the Oracle provided integration ?
I would like to integrate OTM with OM.

            Thanks,
            Kamal

I'd recommend going to Metalink first for this one. There are a couple of Metalink documents that cover the initial setup in more detail that we'd be able to recreate here

                Hi Chris,

Do you happen to know the Metalink note numbers? Other than the EBS Integration document, I haven't had much luck finding anything out on Metalink that is OTM related...

                Thanks!

See MOS (Metalink) Note [ID 1172398.1] Oracle Transportation Management Product Information Center - under "Integration" section.
