    Re: OTM-EBS Financial integartion

    Hello,

What you're asking for is pretty advanced and represents a custom integration effort, as the prepackaged EBS/OTM integration doesn't cover those topics.

Here's my initial thoughts on your proposed integration flows:
    • GL Code integration in EBS with OTM Integration(From OTM to EBS)
      • Would require custom flows in BPEL and custom agents in OTM. The part that would require more investigation is whether there are standard integration tables or interfaces in EBS to accept these values.
    • Tax integration between EBS and OTM
      • Possible, but would require custom concurrent processes in EBS, custom flows in BPEL and custom agents in OTM.
    • Multi Org Concept in OTM
      • You'll need to describe this one in further detail. OTM supports multiple domains, but this isn't exactly synonymous with multiple Orgs. Domains are more flexible than Orgs, but would require every integration flow to be modified.
    • AR Transaction integration between OTM and EBS
      • Definitely possible, though it would require custom flows in BPEL and custom agents in OTM
    • Integration of Exchange Rates Between OTM and EBS
      • Possible, though it would require custom flows in BPEL and custom agents in OTM. This would be a great flow for most businesses, since exchange rates are in constant flux.
Going forward, I'd recommend one of the two following options:
    1. Hire a consultant/consultancy with strong BPEL and EBS/OTM integration to design and code the integration.
    2. Hire a consultant/consultancy with strong BPEL and EBS/OTM integration experience to design the integration and user internal resources to code it.
    3. Design and code the integration yourself. If this is the chosen path, then be careful about your timelines and ensure that you're able to provide specific questions (rather than general queries) to community resources, like the OTM SIG and these forums.
Personally, I believe that Integration is a good fit for a consultant, because it's usually an one-time effort, and then the management of the integration can fall onto in-house resources. When an effort is longer term, sometimes training can be more effective -- it all depends on the skillsets of your internal users and the availability of training materials.

One note about these integration flows -- I highly recommend evaluating the business needs and performing a rough ROI analysis for each, since they will involve initial development time (i.e. $$) and ongoing maintenance, each time EBS and/or OTM is patched or migrated to a new version (i.e. $).

    Thanks,
    Chris

      Re: OTM-EBS Financial integartion

      Kishore,
I assume you saw my response at the below link - we are in process of completing a full-blown EBS/OTM using Fusion BPEL (newer version) and provided some experience/feedback to your previous post here:

This website is for sale! otmfaq.com is your first and best source for all of the information you’re looking for. From general topics to more of what you would expect to find here, otmfaq.com has it all. We hope you find what you are searching for!

Couple additional points of advice...I would definetly recommend you consider using the most recent version of Fusion v.10.1.3.3 from the very beginning of your integration project - in fact I believe it is a requirement for Oracle support if I recall correctly (Chris posted the link for the Metalink note a month or so ago - you should double check it). Previous versions had bugs related to the seeded integration that have been fixed in 10.1.3.3 of Fusion

Also, have you already committed to OTM v5.5 CU2 RU4? If not, you may want to consider a more current version. We implemented on v5.5 CU2 (no RU) and are now in a Go-Live situation and are forced to upgrade due to functionality available in RU2 or greater. Just some feedback - hopefully helpful.

      -Jeff
