  • External User Configuration

    Hi,

I'm trying to find the simplest way to set up an external user. This particular user is a third party warehouse and they will need to manually enter shipment actuals for inbound shipments.

I've successfully set up the user, the menus, and the saved query to display only transactions for their facility........almost.

I have not removed the 'New Query', 'Refine Query' or 'Modify Another' from screen sets where these fields are displayed. By currently having those buttons displayed this external user can potentially see transactions that are not specific to their facility.

How can I set up this external user security to ensure that they can only see their transactions? Must I use VPD profiles? Or is there a simpler solution?

    Thanks in advance!

    Re: External User Configuration

Either remove the desired links from the screen set or use some VPD profile to restrict data.

    VPD is much better approach.

I do agree - I try to use VPD only when necessary, because of the performance implications.
