Title: Managing OTM and Expectations Post Go-Live

      Type: Functional

Speaker: Jason Wicklund - Land O' Lakes

This presentation is about implementation of OTM for our WinField business unit, and the how we used the first 120 days after go live is very critical. For our WinField business implementing a TMS such as OTM was a daunting task. For the first time a TMS was going to be used by our WinField business. This created many unique obstacles in implementation and building the most user friendly version of the application. This is why we are going to present on a topic, that we feel is often overlooked which is the first four months of post go live are very critical to the sustainable success of the application. We will discuss the unique challenges that WinField implementation brought from the feeding two ERP's into one domain of OTM, varying business practices, and challenges that an agricultural market brings to executing a functioning TMS.

        Title: Automated Planning Process

        Type: Advanced Functional

        Speaker: Anthony Gullace, BlueScope Steel

Are there ways of achieving the same outcomes using standard OTM functionality?

Is this outside the box functionality we have developed useful to other organizations and if so can it be incorporated into future releases of OTM? Benefits are that specific load building algorithms that OTM does not cater for can be applied to the planning process.

In Blue scope's example. We have developed specific algorithms that are required to deal with specialized equipment, product types and coil positioning for safety purposes. Our example is Container Rail movements for vertical and horizontal coils.

We have also developed an automated planning process. Which enables templates to be set up which automate the selection of orders to be planned and once the bulk plan is run evaluate the results and choose the prime shipments before they are executed.

          Title: Integration Using Mule ESM

          Type: Technical

Speaker: Mohan Subramanian - Infosys Technologies, Ltd

Enterprise Service Bus is the channel through which Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) can be integrated with EBS and other applications.

As part of this presentation we will be exploring Mule Enterprise Service Bus.

Mule ESB is an open source integration platform and service container that allows connects applications together. Mule offers rich set of features for web services, message routing, mediation, transformation, and transaction management.

The following three components will be developed for integration using Mule
          • Inbound Router
          • Service
          • Outbound Router

Inbound Router: Control and manipulate message received by a service before passing them to service.

Service: Can be a simple Java object (POJO: Plain Old Java Object), EJB, Web service which performs the core business logic.

Outbound Router: Determines where to send the message.

            Title: FTI at SHC

            Type: Functional

            Speaker: Graham Page - Sears

In 2009, SHC completed the OTM roll-out across all the major transportation channels. This has led to a consolidated database with lots of data (~1 TB) and we needed a way to transform this data into useable information. This was the goal of the Fusion project at SHC.

This presentation will walk through the following
            - How Fusion works with OTM in v5.5 with a ROD (Replicated Offline Database).
            - OTM Workflow changes needed to accommodate a Fusion Implementation.
            - Walk-through some key reporting concepts at SHC that were not in the OOTB Fusion product and discuss the custom solutions that were implemented to solve for these concepts.
            - Discuss Lessons Learned from the SHC implementation and our 2010 goals with the Fusion application.

Title: Applying OTM to a Multi-Branded Business

                Type: Functional

Speaker: John Vitale - Baillie Lumber

As a company that operates as multiple companies to our customers, but as one company internally Baillie faced some specific challenges when applying OTM to our environment. We would like to talk to some of the specific areas that we needed to customize to accomplish this. We did not want our internal users to have to have multiple accounts to access different orders, and we needed to apply specific branding to our outgoing notifications. We also caused Oracle to reevaluate some of the ways that notifications were generated. Our solution is not perfect, but continues to improve.

Title: OTM Flexibility in Integrating with Various Third Party Tools for Calculating Distances, Service Time & Rates

                        Type: Advanced Functional

Speaker: Mohan Subramanian - Infosys Technologies

OTM has strong planning and optimization engine to facilitate shipment planning across different modes and service providers. While planning shipments, OTM uses many constraints such as distance, service time and freight rate. Due to large data volume and frequent changes, it is not advisable to maintain these constraints inside OTM.

There are many third party tools available in the market that focuses specifically on managing standard transportation related data such as distances, service time and rates for different carriers across the globe. OTM planning engine can be seamlessly integrated with some of these tools and leverage their data in various planning algorithms.

OTM has an out-of-box integration with various tools for calculating distance, service time and rate. OTM supports:

                        • For Distance Calculation:
                          • ALK (PC* Miler)
                          • MileMaker

                        • For Service Time Calculation:
                          • SMC3 Carrier Connect
                          • ALK (PC* Miler)

                        • For Rating:
                          • SMC3 Czarlite for LTL
                          • Kewill FlagshipTM for Parcel Rating & Transit Time

This paper will cover all configurations required in OTM to integrate with various third party tools that are highlighted above. It also covers the pros and cons for each of these integrations.

Title: Designing OTM for a Multi-Customer Environment (LSP)

                          Type: Functional

Speaker: Nick Fields - Averitt Express and Samuel Levin - MavenWire

Averitt Express and MavenWire will walk you through the methodology taken to designing OTM for a 3PL. A TMS solution poses a unique challenge for 3PL’s in how to build a scalable solution that is easy to implement and support. Looking at unique customer requirements, business goals, and overall ease of use to ensure the solution can be reusable for customer on boarding.

                            All,

As a note - we're working to get the remaining presentations (those listed as not available) so that they can be posted. Some of these are withheld simply due to timing issues and others because of company policies.

The goal is to always publish all of the OTM SIG presentations and we're working hard to make it happen.

As a note, this happens each year -- we just posted the presentations faster this year, before it has all been worked out. :-)
