Title: Achieving a Blended Fleet Strategy as a Shipper

        Speaker: Srini Rajagopal, Oracle

Do you have a mix of carrier resources, dedicated fleet and private fleet resources? Learn how to use the power of OTM to optimize across all three effectively. We will discuss using OTM to enable common strategies of finding backhauls, minimizing empty miles, deploying the fleet optimally, fleet versus carrier trade-offs, etc, that go into a "blended fleet" transportation strategy. We show how you can use OTM's unique capabilities as a transportation platform to handle the particular challenges associated with each resource type while utilizing all to meet your transportation needs most efficiently.

Title: Trends in Global Transportation Pricing Vs OTM Advanced Pricing Configurations

Speaker: Ashok Revuri/Ashok Mishra, Mahindra Satyam

To support a notion "Logistics is complex world', Service Providers (carriers) often come up with innovative pricing structures to be more competitive OR to gain a market share OR to cater specific logistics needs. These pricing structures keep varying with region, carrier, Industry segment, nature of logistics business (Freight forwarder, Airlines, Shipping Lines, customs broker etc). Our topic mainly focuses on ‘How to Configure complex pricing scenarios by leveraging the OTM advanced Pricing features, Different Pricing types Vs OTM Pricing configuration, Unit Based/ Flat rates with Ranges/Breaks:
          • A. Rates per carton or Equipment or UOM
          • B. Rates Per Carton or Equipment (on specific range)
          • C. Flat rates per consignment
          • D. Flat rates per weight ranges
          • E. Rate is setup with a single Basic charge applied per consignment, and then a rate per kg.
          • F. Flat Ranges
          • G. Stepped Up Ranges
          • - Tariff Pricing (with Percentages)
          • H. Basic charge setup either as a % discount off the tariff or set $ value (may have kgs included if a $ value) and a kg rate which can only be setup as a % discount off the tariff.
          • I. Percentages applied on ranges
          • - Grid Based Pricing (Inclusive/Exclusive)
          • The total fixed freight rate, defined by the number of kg weight breaks. If the consignment is greater the highest kg weight break, the kilogram charge weight will apply thereafter the highest weight.
          • - Marginal Pricing
          • - Scenario based pricing (Detention, Fuel charge timely index)
          • - Mode specific pricing (Ocean arbitrary pricing - DP, PD, DD, DP & Parcel – 1 Day, 2day, SAT etc)

Key OTM implementation elements of Pricing configurations
          • When to use different Rate Service at RO and RR
          • When & How to Use Rush Hour for Rating
          • How & When to use Calculate As Marginal Cost
          • How & When to use Rate Quality factor
          • How & When to use Rate Preference
          • How to use Tiered rating structure

Title: Improve Order Fulfillment Cycle Time with timely Product Classification and a fully compliant and complete Global Trade Management solution

              Speaker: Joe Spear, Accelalpha

This white paper details how to improve efficiency in classifying products as part of Product Life Cycle Management and reduce delays in Order Processing due to missing classification information. Managing item classifications is a crucial part of international trade management and compliance. Classifying products correctly from cradle-to-grave of their life cycle is critical in preventing costly export compliance violations. Shorter product lifecycles, frequent item modifications, and changes to item classifications by government agencies complicate this task. This becomes even more complicated when information is maintained in multiple systems. The key to reducing risk and improving efficiency is to maintain an integrated single "source of truth". As a good business practice, companies usually manage their item classifications in an upstream PLM or ERP application. Lack of upstream management can increase processing time of sales orders, as items may not have assigned classifications nor been approved in the Global Trade Management (GTM) application. In these cases, Compliance team involvement becomes necessary to progress the sales order. This lengthy process delays the shipment of goods, negatively impacts customer satisfaction and subsequently impacts company revenues. It is therefore of critical importance to manage item classifications in an upstream system as part of product lifecycle management.

Accelalpha designed and implemented some key system enhancements that resulted in the following benefits:
              1. Not waiting for products to be classified and approved when products are ready for shipment
              2. Single Source of Truth (PLM system) for Item related information including Item Classification
              3. Avoiding duplication of effort of defining and approving classifications in GTM
              4. Automatically synchronize classification info between EBS and GTM via an Accelalpha proprietary ITEM SYNC process.
              5. Automated workflow to pass additional data between EBS and GTM (e.g. Country of Origin, Item Types, Initial Classification, Classification Change, Engineering Design change)

Title: OTM 6.2.4 Install: Multi-tier local and regional planning, Fleet Management, and Onboard Device Communications

                Speaker: Guy DeFlorio, Mutual Materials

In Q4 2011, Mutual Materials launched a multi-phase OTM v6.2.4 implementation spanning Order Management, Transportation Planning, Shipment Execution, and Fleet Management for outbound and inbound freight. Mutual Materials manufactures and distributes brick, block, pavers and related building products throughout the northwestern US and adjacent Canadian provinces. Mutual utilizes a private fleet of customized trucks and trailers to distribute and deliver across its network of distributors, dealers and customers. Mutual Materials selected OTM based on its breadth and depth of functionality, its advanced planning engine, and its position as the market leader. Mutual Materials selected King of Prussia, PA-based MavenWire to provide OTM consulting and implementation services and OTM hosting services based on MavenWire's experience with OTM and Fleet Management. E2open was selected to provide the integration services to/from EBS, OTM and Qualcomm systems.

Mutual Materials' unique fleet consists primarily of a truck cab with flatbed permanently attached. Optionally, a second trailer can be added, and a moffett (heavy duty forklift) may be hitched to the truck bed for unloading product at the point of delivery. Mutual Materials configured EBS to identify the equipment requirements for each order, and MavenWire configured OTM to accommodate each possible combination and circumstance. Equipment requirements for common carriers loads were also addressed. The OTM configuration provides for the maximum utilization of the specialized fleet, adds value at the point of delivery, and reduces logistics costs.

To provide for optimal planning for Mutual Materials' complex distribution network of consolidation and deconsolidation pools, cross-docks and multi-stop opportunities, MavenWire's solution leveraged OTM Order Management coupled with industry-leading routing and workflow capabilities to enable maximum flexibility and cost-savings planning outputs.

Phase 1 of the project was delivered in April, 2012 and included planning and execution of outbound and intercompany freight, fleet driver assignment & visibility, and common carrier onboarding. Phase 2 began in May, 2012 and included inbound freight, integration with Qualcomm's onboard mobile technology, and Financial Settlement. Phase 2 is the first known implementation of OTM with Qualcomm. OTM's Message Hub provides the Dispatchers with near real-time updates and a consolidated view of shipment and message statuses.

                    Speaker: Ted Gifford, Schneider

Schneider National has recently completed implementation and roll-out of OTM 6.1 to a fleet over 12,000 drivers across national, regional, dedicated, and intermodal operations. This system integrates OTM with Seibel for customer/order management and EBS for financials and driver information, as well as with a number of 3rd party and custom-developed components to support mobile communications, B2B communication, revenue and network management, equipment maintenance, trailer management and other areas. In this presentation we will describe the application landscape and the breadth of OTM Fleet functionality leveraged and the scope of configuration and extension required to meet our business needs. We will also discuss functional and performance testing strategy and the corresponding challenges faced by a first adopter of the new product. The presentation will conclude with observations of what we would do differently and recommendations to ORACLE for product improvement.

Title: OTM's Fleet Module: Integration with In-Truck Computers – It Works!

                      Speaker: Teresa Shull, OmniSource Corp.

OmniSource is a metals recycling company whose transportation spend represents the highest category of costs after raw materials. Omni's overall OTM implementation covers an expanding geographic area and integration with both ERP and a custom driver and trailer compliance database. The overall vision is for OTM to serve as the sole transportation platform for Fleet, Outside Carrier TL, LTL, Rail and International Freight Forwarding company-wide.

With over 400 trucks and tens of thousands of pieces of equipment, the Fleet module is a critical component of the OTM implementation at OmniSource. Omni has a unique environment of short-haul, local moves where drivers may haul up to 15 loads per day. "House" carriers complement the fleet, providing their own drivers and power units, but utilizing Omni equipment. In addition to improved driver planning and scheduling, Omni now has improved visibility to assets and equipment fleet-wide, thanks to robust event reporting enabled by integration with an OBTC (On-Board Trip Computer). OTM communicates planned loads to the In-Truck unit, and events being sent back to OTM from the unit convey stop times, asset tracking and delay information that feeds driver pay.

This presentation will focus on the current state of the Fleet module at Omni, its integration with the On-Board system, and our roadmap for the future. It aims to provide valuable information to current and prospective Fleet implementers, outlining our path to the current stage of the implementation, which pieces of the Fleet module work well, and which need improvement.

                                Speaker: Phil Bedwell, OmniSource Corp.

OmniSource is a metal recycling company whose transportation spend represents the highest category of costs after raw materials. Omni's overall OTM implementation covers an expanding geographic area and integration with both ERP and a custom driver and trailer compliance database. The overall vision is for OTM to serve as the sole transportation platform for Fleet, Outside Carrier TL, LTL, Rail and International Freight Forwarding across OmniSource and eventually to serve as the transportation platform for all of OmniSource and the parent company Steel Dynamics.

In addition to the private truck fleet, OmniSource also has a private rail car fleet of over 1800 railcars and manages in excess of 100,000 rail shipments per year. Once fully implemented, OTM will serve as the single repository for all rail contracts and rail shipment activity. EDI integration with the Class 1 railroads has been completed for the current rollouts including Bills of Lading and Car Location Messages (CLM). The EDI messages are processed through a third party for eventual communication to and from the railroads in order to maintain consistent integration points.

This presentation will focus on the current state of the Rail module at OmniSource, integration with the Class 1 Railroads and our roadmap for the future. It aims to provide valuable information to current and prospective Rail implementers, outlining our path to the current stage of the implementation, which pieces of the Rail modules work well, and which need improvement.
