Dynamic clustering in OTM using HERE Map (Unilever Case Study) by Suhel MD (Unilever) & Sumith Bhaskar (KPIT Technologies)

Abstract: Unilever believes in sustainable development goals with reduction in Carbon footprint. Dynamic clustering with HERE map is the planning technique adopted in Unilever where real life geographical constraints are being considered to build multi stop shipments. It provides most optimized shipment in terms of Load, distance covered, accurate route planning and in turn reduced CO2 emission. Recently it has been implemented in the frozen business of Philippines where business can foresee a tremendous benefit with 10% optimized shipments, 20% reduction in time, fuel consumption and an expected cost reduction of over 20%. Thus, dynamic clustering will create a win-win scenario for both Unilever and the service providers and make a greener and faster transportation landscape throughout the world.

Profiles: Suhel MD is a Senior IT manager with Transportation management within Unilever. He has been in the organization for more than eleven years and worked across areas of supply chain. In his most recent roles, he was subject matter expert for OTM implementation in Asia, Africa, Russia, Masreq, Magreb and Australia. He holds an engineering degree from National institute of science technology, Orissa and did EGMP from IIMB.

Sumith Bhaskar Rajendran is a Lead Principal consultant with KPIT technologies, currently handling two landscapes for Unilever. He has a total experience of Thirteen years of which more than Eleven years in OTM. He has done multiple end to end OTM implementations around the globe and have good customer facing experience.

Loading split functionality in OTM by Viji Subramanian (Infosys)

Abstract: When the height of the equipment is not the multiples of heights of pallets, we need to split the pallets so that we utilize the space of the equipment efficiently. This can be configured using Loading split functionality in OTM (which is available from 6.3.2 version). OTM will try to pack the equipment with full pallets first. When there is no room left, OTM will consider loading split options for the remaining space in the equipment.

Profile: Viji Subramanian has 12 years of experience in Oracle Transportation Management, both technical and functional expertise in implementing in OTM and worked extensively across various industry customers like Third Party Logistics providers, Aerospace & defense and Food and Beverages.
